The valley of Sóller, also known as the “Valley of Gold” is in the northwest of Majorca, in the heart of the Tramuntana mountain range. The small town owes thanks to its uniqueness not least for its special location, in the midst of high soaring mountains, with idyllic orange and olive groves and a direct outlet to the sea through the Port de Sóller.
Since 1912, the electric railway has been running through 13 tunnels to reach Palma passing through the orange and olive groves. On a historical tram trip to the Port of Sóller you can also enjoy the aroma of the blossoming orange trees close up! This is how in earlier times the oranges from the valley were transported to the port for export to the south of France.
